WikiFX: the murky business and the murkier methods
https://preview.redd.it/1rf74ljv34l51.png?width=960&format=png&auto=webp&s=566235871ce22dd3078f0532dfb672bff6eb0707 The irony of financial markets is that this business that officially has got as much regulation as arms trafficking, has also got the same problem –- numerous illegal entities that evolve around the niche. Scam brokers, funds recovery services that rob the robbed traders, HYIPs, “learn how to make millions overnight” trading courses and a number of other schemes all tend to exploit the weak point of human nature – the belief that there is the magic device with the “MORE MONEY” button out there, that someone can sell you.
A thief shouting “Thief!”
Considering the above there is a high demand in society for truthful and unbiased information about the market players. WikiFX claims to be the provider of such honest information about brokers but in fact, makes money by blackmailing brokers and promoting any company that offers to pay enough in their rankings. WikiFX is a classic illustration of a thief shouting “Get the thief!” louder than anybody else in the crowd. The strategy works unfortunately and traders tend to trust WikiFx broker’s ratings without questioning what these ratings are based on and who sponsors this global brokers’ database.
Paving the road with some good intentions
Even the most horrible crimes against humanity were done under the cover of best intentions. Starting with the first crusades and ending with the holocaust. There are always some sound arguments, protected people and reliable methods. Ask any trader whether each forex broker must be regulated by a third party? The answer will be “yes” with a near 100% probability and this answer is totally correct. Know-your-customer procedures and some unbiased third-party control are essential for maintaining the overall transparency of any business in a sphere of finance. This is the argument that WikiFX starts with when promoting its service and there is absolutely no point to argue. Starting with an indisputable truth is a good strategy to win the debate. “The long-term presence on the market adds credibility”, – says WikiFX, and hears “yes” again. “Don’t you agree that the longer the company is in the business, the better?”. “Sure”, – the trader agrees one more time. The mission is completed. This is when the broker ranker can add any other criteria to their appraisal methods. Traders will tend to trust the service because they’ve agreed upon the most important criteria. The rest are minor details. But what if the rest of the appraisal methods are not just minor issues? What if these details can be the means to manipulate the facts as much as they want to?
Can WikiFX appraisal criteria be trusted?
If we take a look at any broker’s WikiFX rating, we can see that the criteria of appraisal are the following:
The year of registration
Market Making license
For example, this is what the top-rated broker’s summary looks like at WikiFX: WikiFX Forex com example https://preview.redd.it/t4ugtbt344l51.png?width=625&format=png&auto=webp&s=95fddf8434faf8938d1a3f18bbd5f1da2ceb47e4 Looks good. Really. Regardless of the attitude to this particular brokerage, the work seems to be done fine. All the regulators are listed below, the information on the used software, licensing, and years of operation is included. But what if we take some other random brokerage with one of the lowest rankings at WikiFX? NinjaTraderBrokerage WIkiFX Ranking https://preview.redd.it/pgyqp0u644l51.png?width=631&format=png&auto=webp&s=eb268faac83608a494c31a39eb1621f7132e3520 This is where the truth reveals itself. Once again, regardless of the attitude to this particular brokerage this is really easy to find out what they do, what licenses they’ve got and what kind of software they use. Suspicious clone? Seriously? If WikiFX staff cared enough to do any investigation prior to stamping that “Suspicious” mark on the brokerage, they would have seen that both domains, nijatrader com and ninjatraderbrokerage com belong to the same entity. NinyaTrader whois data https://preview.redd.it/2097lkw944l51.png?width=563&format=png&auto=webp&s=079cc4248b825a3cd941c6b691a67bb9769f4f7f If they cared enough to collect information on the brokerage from at least one reliable source, like Investopedia or any other similarly known database, they would also have found out that the company not only provides the brokerage service, but also is known for its trading platform with advanced technical analysis tools. But the only trading software that WikiFX considers reliable seems to be MT4/MT5. They simply ignore the fact that trading does not evolve around MetaTrader products, no matter how good and popular they are. WikiFX lowers the score of any brokerage with custom-developed software. We can clearly see this with the above example. Other criteria that WikiFX is proud to use for the broker’s appraisal are regulations. Using the same example let’s see how well they do the appraisal in this field. As you can see above, WikiFX used the “Suspicious Regulatory License” stamp for NinjaTrader Brokerage. And here is what The National Futures Association, that NinjaTrader is registered with as a futures broker has on its record: NFA regulation of NTB proof that WikiFX did not consider to be trustworthy https://preview.redd.it/di8fwkdd44l51.png?width=629&format=png&auto=webp&s=2de618d5df26bd8fcca99c51a6030f4bdfa7f776 We can’t expect every trader to know that any futures broker that wants to operate on the US market must be a member of NFA. This is the requirement of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission regarding the futures broker’s operations. But this is totally unacceptable for a broker ranking website, which WikiFX claims to be, to mark NFA-registered futures brokerage as non-reliable. By the way, did you notice on the above screenshot that NTB has obtained the NFA license in 2004? Yet, this does not prevent WikiFX from claiming that the brokerage has only been providing its services for 1-2 years only, instead of the factual 16 years of operations. We can long discuss the reasons that lie behind such selectivity of WikiFX but this random example clearly shows that any brokerage that provides access to non-forex derivatives trading or dares to suggest custom-developed software to its traders is in danger of receiving a negative review at WikiFX regardless of the factual reliability and regulations.
What lies beneath WikiFX selectivity?
WikiFX claims to have a team of professionals that are all involved in objective appraisal of broker’s services, licenses and used software. The methods used by these professionals remain unrevealed and as we see from the above comparison two similarly reliable brokerages can get any score from 1.0 and up to 10.0 at WikiFX, no matter what regulations they’ve got, for how long they’ve been in the business and what kind of software they use. This is difficult to say what lies behind such selectivity with 100% confidence. The first thing that comes to mind is that WikiFX might be affiliated with some brokers. The hypothesis gets even more realistic if we try to understand who sponsors WikiFX. There are no transparent built-in ads neither on the web-version of the website nor in its applications. There are no paid subscriptions for access to the database. This means that users sponsor the service with neither their attention to ads nor directly. Being the non-charity and non-governmental organization WikiFX can’t be sponsored with donations or a government. The only option that we have left is that brokers sponsor this ranking system directly, which automatically makes the whole system non-reliable and highly biased. The only transparent method that we know WikiFX uses to collect money is sponsorship fees they collect from their offline events participants. Let’s have a look at the exhibitors of the recent WikiFX Expo in Thailand. WikiFX Expo Exhibitors
TLC is a non-regulated investment platform that was founded in 2019
Samtrade FX is not regulated by any of the agencies that WikiFX itself lists as reliable
Forex4you is not regulated by any of the agencies that WikiFX itself lists as reliable
B2 Broker is a non-regulated broker
XDL FX is a non-regulated broker
VAT FX is a non-regulated broker Six out of sixteen WikiFX recent expo exhibitors do not have proper legal status according to the “standards” of WikiFX itself. This fact does not prevent them from promoting the services of these companies at their offline events. This conspicuous fact tells a lot about the attitude of WikiFX to common traders looking for reliable partners. Reputation is nothing but a sale item for this brokers’ ranking system.
Murky & Murkier
So far we’ve only discussed the facts that anyone can check himself using free tools and sources. It was not that difficult to discover that WikiFX uses non-transparent standards for brokers’ appraisal. It ignores the specifics of some brokerages lowering their scores due to non-standard derivatives they offer to trade or custom trading software. It also promotes non-regulated and non-licensed brokerages, which is 100% against the declared WikiFX values and mission. The rumors are that this company was also noticed blackmailing brokers with the purpose of making them pay for better reviews at WikiFX. There are also some signs that indicate suspicious promotion of WikiFX platform through social media and Quora. Some of the WikiFX positive reviews also look highly suspicious. All of the above is a matter of further investigation. Nevertheless, thousands of users keep relying on the information provided by this scam ranking system. It may even look like all these users are satisfied. WikiFX has got 4.5 starts at Google Play, which sounds good enough. However, positive WikiFX reviews use similar semantics and are also highly suspicious. Despite the high average grade, Google Play finds the following messages to be most relevant and brings them to the top of WikiFX reviews: Google Play most relevant WikiFX reviews https://preview.redd.it/kftutvcl44l51.png?width=532&format=png&auto=webp&s=1ccb74ee156388285a2fab711dd604945c04377c
You’ve got the facts now and it’s time to make your own conclusions.
So I've recently become interested in automated Forex day trading using machine learning (My main experience is with deep-learning) and have been searching online for the best broker to start with. But the resources have been overwhelming and I thought to come here to talk with some more experienced people. On that note, I'm looking for a Broker with... -An accurate, fast API (I'm looking to pull historical and real-time data to train and use my network on respectively) -Low-commission rates, I'm not pursuing this with massive capital, so I was hoping to get the lowest commission rate so as to not have my profit margins eaten up -Decently trustworthy, cause I don't want to get screwed over -Has Demo and Live accounts both available to the API, cause I would much rather prefer to test my network paper trading first, but not have a big headache over switching it to Live trading Sorry if these conditions are too specific (Again, new), but any guidance would be really appreciated! PS: For those with ML experience, I'm thinking about using a genetic algorithm simply because I haven't used them before, would they be complete trash at day trading?
In addition, in Forex, with a little bit of money, you are able to control bigger market positions using the leverage or margin trading. Effect of 1:100 is common in the Fore marketplace. It permits you to control numbers 100 times bigger than your capital, whilst leverage of 1:1000 and 1:500 are available with a few businesses that are offshore. Become a financial investor with £300 and make £50 for doing nothing
Good Day! If you are looking for a quick easy way to earn £50 in commission then you are in the right place. Wether you're a student, full-time/part time worker or unemployed you can do this easily in 30 minutes or less. Many people are promoting forex programmes that only benefit themselves and probably offer you a book that explains nothing nothing more than you can learn on babypips.com I offer an educational group on an app called telegram (You can download it off the App Store, Android store or windows store.) And we can help you become traders not by selling worthless signals but by teaching you how to trade independently, a lifetime service for free. Now all this sounds too good to be true right? And what about that '£50 commission you told me about?' Well I work with a brokerage that when I get signed up and you trade with them I earn commission, For you doing so I am willing to give back to my team £50 via PayPal, Skrill or BTC, whatever floats your boat as a way of saying, Since you helped me, i'll help you. Plus I am offering you another investment opportunity in yourself, The way I think about trading on the financial markets is not a 'Get rich quick' scheme, or a 100% Guaranteed profit making strategy. I Just like many other traders have had bad weeks/months on the markets but the way to overcome it is to manage your risk and to make sure your bad weeks or months are nothing compared to your good ones. If you invest £1000 into a savings account and leave it there on say your 0.01% interest rate for a year you now have £1010. Congratulations you bank has now done for you what you could do in a week easily. You can open a trade on the lowest risk possible and make that if you find the right swing in the market, which with the right guidance and mindset and experiment, is not all too hard to do. Depositing with a broker is like depositing into a bank account. I can 100% guarantee there will be someone reading this thinking this is a scam, they are just going tot take your money and run. Be assured that I never see your money, when you hand over money to deposit cash into your bank account do you see your cashier take it and put it in their wallet/purse and then it not show up into your account? You are simply depositing money into your own account that only you will have access too and it is there for you to do what you would like with, you can be risky and trade big though I wouldn't recommend this, if you want to though I think you shout find the swing that would work the best for it, find every confirmation possible and enter where there is lowest risk to your account. But for most traders actually wanting to make a steady investment on their capital they can trade low risk, find the swings exactly how I just mentioned and grow your account bit by bit. As I said previously we offer training in the markets and this is exactly what we are trying to achieve. We don't charge a monthly service fee unlike most in this line of work, instead we actually make our living trading and use the commission from the broker as a service charge, basically like a tip to our weekly profits we use for leisure or to take the Mrs out for dinner :) If you are interested or have any questions drop a message to either me privately or if you think it is beneficial to everyone reading then add it to the bottom of this thread. We are more than happy to speak to you over telegram 1-1 and if you need to you can voice call over the app too. However you must be 18+ have some sort of ID and credit/debit card to sign up with the broker. ** If you are unsure when signing up with the broker you can research them/call them whatever you like. We only work with brokers that are registered under the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority)
I just feel like I finally need to share my story (only person who knows so far is my sister, I absolutely needed to tell someone). So I've never understood the appeal of gambling. I never played slots, never ran poker for money or anything. My first sports bet was a Floyd Mayweather fight. Knowing what I know about boxing, getting a 20% return on my investment for May fighting McGregor was an absolute no-brainer. What I didn't know, though, is that I signed up for an extra promo and the cash out would not work. So this quickly spiraled into parlays and obscure tennis and football matches all over the world to be able to cash out what I put in. I lost 200 bucks, but the insight into people analyzing these things all day was somewhat fun. Shit result, but nothing that really hurt retrospectively. Wrote that off and never ever looked back at sports betting. Enter summer 2019. I get interested in the stock market. I read a lot, I actually do research on financial statements and decide to invest in actual stocks. It works. Commissions take the fun out, make gains miniscule, but it works. Enter finding out about Forex and CFDs. Leveraged. Again I start slowly, news tickers, books, lots of observation. Technical analysis is like old people horoscopes, but if I see movements that overshoot, I find out what causes them and decide if reversing them might make sense. I start with 200€ again. And it works. Beginners luck and the fact the stakes weren't high, but after a couple of weeks im up by 500€. 150% gain, Over 50 positive trades in succession. Not a single loss. The perfectionism will become my downfall as you might imagine. October '19. The FED is injecting repos into a market that keeps having these mini-recessions. The liquidity brings the spikes they hoped for, but the underlying problems won't just dissapear. So slowly, I am shorting the market. It keeps running up - I become aware that these trades will be longer term. I can hold the positions for a year. I know it will blow, I just wasn't sure when. On the ride up, I keep shorting. I'm slow to realize how the margin shrinks. I need to deposit more money. I can spare another 500. And another 250. And another 500. They say the market can be irrational longer than you can be solvent. November I lose my job. By January the P/L hits -4500€. I'm confident that this can't hold but I am running out of money. I'm ashamed to ask for financial help and I would never risk losing anyone else's money. So the credit card has to to. My card, my debt. WWIII almost kicks off the year and it finally dips. A single night later I witness the strength of the irrationality. My mental time frame is now to hold until middle of march. But the margin kills me, I am running out of money. I can't hold my positions. So one after another I start closing, panicking, how will I make this back?? This is it: I'll raise the stakes and just make this back. After all, these were my very first losing trades, even though they were huge. This is where I start to realize I am now gambling. I'm blindly taking positions to make money as fast as possible. Instead of making it back, I keep losing more. 3000 gone. another 1500. 1500 in a day. 700. 1150. Today I'm down 8000€. On a historic day. The one I was actually anticipating since October. The "coulda woulda shouldas" are incredible in this one. Not only would I still have 8000€, but I would've raked some extreme profits if I was able to hold. Instead, being unemployed gave me all the time in the world to watch charts and treat this liek a game I could gamble on. Unneccessary trade over unnecessary trade, ever shorter time frames, chasing every loss. The chasing and the frequency made me realize I have an addiction. The fact I deleted the app and still kept checking charts, just to hop back in and lose again. I started listening to the after gambling podcast and all the themes were so familiar, even when I wasn't betting, playing slots or cards or roulette. The mechanisms that ruined me were exactly the same. I just sold myself this dream instead of having someone else advertise it to me. This is by far the lowest point of my life so far and I can't tell wether that's a good or a bad thing. Debt is now about 1.5k + 6k student loans. Just the thought that I could be debt free today kills me. The thoughts of the vacations, the furniture and all the little gifts and trinkets the money could've been for me and the most loving girlfriend I have. It's gut wrenching. But more than anything else: The sleep, the health, the peace of mind that I have lost - the time - all the things I could have spent my time on. Educating myself, sports. Life was fuckin great until October, I ran my first half marathon; today I feel like a shell of my actual self. I am sorry for this massive wall of text, but I really needed to let go of this. Today is day 1 and we will count to infinity. Have a great day and keep those spirits high. <3
I am a professional Day Trader working for a Prop Fund, Hope I can help people out and answer some questions
Howdy all, I work professionally for a proprietary trading fund, and have worked for quite a few in my time, hope I can offer some insights on trading etc you guys might have. Bonus for you guys Here are the columns in my trading journal and various explanations where appropriate: Trade Number – Simply is this the first trade of the year? The 10th?, The 50th? I count a trade that you opened and closed just one trade number. For example if you buy EUUSD today and sell it 50 pips later in the day and close out the trade, then that is just one trade for recording purposes. I do not create a second trade number to describe the exit. Both the entry and exit are under the same trade number. Ticket Number – This is ticket number / order ID number that your broker gives you for the trade on your platform. Day of the Week – This would be simply the day of the week the trade was initiated Financial Instrument / Currency Pair – Whatever Financial Instrument or currency pair you are trading. If you are trading EUUSD, put EUUSD. If you are trading the EuroFX futures contract, then put in Euro FX. If you are trading the emini S&P, then put in Emini S&P 500. If you are trading a stock, put in the ticker symbol. Etc. Buy/Sell or Long/Short – Did you buy or sell to open the new trade? If you bought something to open the trade, then write in either BUY or LONG. If you sold(shorted) something to open a trade, then write in SOLD, or SHORT. This is a personal preference. Some people like to put in their journals as BUY/SELL. Other people like to write in Long/Short. My preference is for writing in long/short, since that is the more professional way to say it. I like to use the lingo where possible. Order Type – Market or Limit – When you entered the trade was it a market order or limit order? Some people can enter a trade using a combination of market and limit orders. If you enter a trade for $1 million half of which was market order and the other half was limit order, then you can write in $500,000 Market, $500,000 Limit as a bullet points. Position Size / Units / Contracts / Shares – How big was the total trade you entered? If you bought 1 standard lot of a currency pair, then write in $100,000 or 1 standard lot. If you bought 5 gold futures contracts, then write in 5 contracts. If you bought 1,000 shares of stock, then write in 1,000 shares. Etc. Entry Price – The entry price you received entering your opening position. If you entered at multiple prices, then you can either write in all the different fills you got, or specify the average price received. Entry Date – Date that you entered the position. For example January 23, 2012. Or you can write in 1/23/12 . Entry Time – Time that you opened the position. If it is multiple positions, then you can specify each time for each various fill, or you can specify the time range. For example if you got $100,000 worth of EUUSD filled at 3:00 AM EST, and another $100,000 filled at 3:05 and another $100,000 filled at 3:25, then you can write all those in, or you can specify a range of 3:00 – 3:30 AM EST. Entry Spread Cost (in pips) – This is optional if you want to keep track of your spread cost in pips. If you executed a market order, how many pips did you pay in spread. Entry Spread Cost (in dollars) – This is optional if you want to keep track of your spread cost in dollars. If you executed a market order, how many dollars did you pay in spread. Stop Loss Size – How big is your stop loss size? If you are trading a currency pair, then you write in the pips. If you are trading the S&P futures contract, then write in the number of points. If you are trading a stock, then write in how many cents or dollars your stop is away from your entry price. % Risk – If you were to get stopped out of the trade, how much % loss of your equity is that? This is where you input your risk per trade expressed in % terms if you use such a position sizing method. If you risked 0.50% of your account on the trade, then put in 0.50% Risk in dollars – If you were to get stopped out of the trade, how much loss in dollars is that. For example if you have a $100,000 account and you risked 1% on a trade, then write in $1,000 dollars Potential Reward: Risk Ratio – This is a column that I only sometimes fill in. You write in what the potential reward risk ratio of the trade is. If you are trading using a 100 pip stop and you expect that the market can reasonably move 300 pips, then you can write in 3:1. Of course this is an interesting column because you can look at it after the trade is finished and see how close you were or how far removed from reality your initial projections were. Potential Win Rate – This is another column that I only sometimes fill in. You write in what you believe the potential win rate of this trade is. If you were to place this trade 10 times in a row, how many times do you think you would win? I write it in as percentage terms. If you believe the trade has a 50% chance to win, then write in 50%. Type of Inefficiency – This is where you write in what type of inefficiency you are looking to capture. I use the word inefficiency here. I believe it is important to think of trading setups as inefficiencies. If you think in terms of inefficiencies, then you will think in terms of the market being mispriced, then you will think about the reasons why the market is mispriced and why such market expectations for example are out of alignment with reality. In this category I could write in different types of trades such as fading the stops, different types of news trades, expecting stops to get tripped, betting on sentiment intensifying, betting on sentiment reversing, etc. I do not write in all the reasons why I took the trade in this column. I do that in another column. This column is just to broadly define what type of inefficiency you are looking to capture. Chart Time Frame – I do not use this since all my order flow based trades have nothing to do with what chart time frame I look at. However, if you are a chartist or price action trader, then you may want to include what chart time frame you found whatever pattern you were looking at. Exit Price – When you exit your trade, you enter the price you received here. Exit Date – The date you exited your trade. Exit Time – The time you exited your trade. Trade Duration – In hours, minutes, days or weeks. If the trade lasts less than an hour, I will usually write in the duration in minutes. Anything in between 1 and 48 hours, I write in the hours amount. Anything past that and I write it as days or weeks as appropriate, etc. Pips the trade went against you before turning into a winner – If you have a trade that suffered a draw down, but did not stop you out and eventually was a winner, then you write it how many pips the trade went against you before it turned into a profitable trade. The reason you have this column is to compare it to your stop loss size and see any patterns that emerge. If you notice that a lot of your winning trades suffer a big draw down and get near your stop loss points but turn out to be a profitable trade, then you can further refine your entry strategy to get in a better price. Slippage on the Exit – If you get stopped out for a loss, then you write in how many pips you suffered as slippage, if any. For example if you are long EUUSD at 1.2500 and have your stop loss at 1.2400 and the market drops and you get filled at 1.2398, then you would write in -2 pips slippage. In other words you lost 2 pips as slippage. This is important for a few different reasons. Firstly, you want to see if the places you put your stop at suffer from slippage. If they do, perhaps you can get better stop loss placement, or use it as useful information to find new inefficiencies. Secondly, you want to see how much slippage your broker is giving you. If you are trading the same system with different brokers, then you can record the slippage from each one and see which has the lowest slippage so you can choose them. Profit/Loss -You write in the profit and/or loss in pips, cents, points, etc as appropriate. If you bought EUUSD at 1.2500 and sell it at 1.2550, you made 50 pips, so write in +50 pips. If you bought a stock at $50 and you sell it at $60, then write in +$10. If you buy the S&P futures at 1,250 and sell them at 1,275, then write in +25 points. If you buy the GBP/USD at 1.5000 and you sell it at 1.4900, then write in -100 pips. Etc. I color code the box background to green for profit and red for loss. Profit/Loss In Dollars – You write the profit and/or loss in dollars (or euros, or jpy, etc whatever currency your account is denominated in). If you are long $100,000 of EUUSD at 1.2500 and sell it at 1.2600, then write in +$1,000. If you are short $100,000 GBP/USD at 1.5900 and it rises to 1.6000 and you cover, then write in -$1,000. I color code the box background to green for profit and red for loss. Profit/Loss as % of your account – Write in the profit and/or loss as % of your account. If a trade made you 2% of your account, then write in +2%. If a trade lost 0.50%, then write in -0.50%. I color code the box background to green for profit and red for loss. Reward:Risk Ratio or R multiple: If the trade is a profit, then write in how many times your risk did it pay off. If you risked 0.50% and you made 1.00%, then write in +2R or 2:1 or 2.0. If you risked 0.50% and a trade only makes 0.10%, then write in +0.20R or 0.2:1 or 0.2. If a trade went for a loss that is equal to or less than what you risked, then I do not write in anything. If the loss is greater than the amount you risked, then I do write it in this column. For example lets say you risk 0.50% on a stock, but overnight the market gaps and you lose 1.50% on a trade, then I would write it in as a -3R. What Type of trading loss if the trade lost money? – This is where I describe in very general terms a trade if it lost money. For example, if I lost money on a trade and the reason was because I was buying in a market that was making fresh lows, but after I bought the market kept on going lower, then I would write in: “trying to pick a bottom.” If I tried shorting into a rising uptrend and I take a loss, then I describe it as “trying to pick a top.” If I am buying in an uptrend and buy on a retracement, but the market makes a deeper retracement or trend change, then I write in “tried to buy a ret.” And so on and so forth. In very general terms I describe it. The various ways I use are: • Trying to pick a bottom • Trying to pick a top • Shorting a bottom • Buying a top • Shorting a ret and failed • Wrongly predicted news • Bought a ret and failed • Fade a resistance level • Buy a support level • Tried to buy a breakout higher • Tried to short a breakout lower I find this category very interesting and important because when performing trade journal analysis, you can notice trends when you have winners or losing trades. For example if I notice a string of losing trades and I notice that all of them occur in the same market, and all of them have as a reason: “tried to pick a bottom”, then I know I was dumb for trying to pick a bottom five times in a row. I was fighting the macro order flow and it was dumb. Or if I notice a string of losers and see that I tried to buy a breakout and it failed five times in a row, but notice that the market continued to go higher after I was stopped out, then I realize that I was correct in the move, but I just applied the wrong entry strategy. I should have bought a retracement, instead of trying to buy a fresh breakout. That Day’s Weaknesses (If any) – This is where I write in if there were any weaknesses or distractions on the day I placed the trade. For example if you are dead tired and place a trade, then write in that you were very tired. Or if you place a trade when there were five people coming and out of your trading office or room in your house, then write that in. If you placed the trade when the fire alarm was going off then write that in. Or if you place a trade without having done your daily habits, then write that in. Etc. Whatever you believe was a possible weakness that threw you off your game. That Day’s Strengths (If any) – Here you can write in what strengths you had during the day you placed your trade. If you had complete peace and quiet, write that in. If you completed all your daily habits, then write that in. Etc. Whatever you believe was a possible strength during the day. How many Open Positions Total (including the one you just placed) – How many open trades do you have after placing this one? If you have zero open trades and you just placed one, then the total number of open positions would be one, so write in “1.” If you have on three open trades, and you are placing a new current one, then the total number of open positions would be four, so write in “4.” The reason you have this column in your trading journal is so that you can notice trends in winning and losing streaks. Do a lot of your losing streaks happen when you have on a lot of open positions at the same time? Do you have a winning streak when the number of open positions is kept low? Or can you handle a lot of open positions at the same time? Exit Spread Cost (in pips) – This is optional if you want to keep track of your spread cost in pips. If you executed a market order, how many pips did you pay in spread. Exit Spread Cost (in dollars) – This is optional if you want to keep track of your spread cost in dollars. If you executed a market order, how many dollars did you pay in spread. Total Spread Cost (in pips) – You write in the total spread cost of the entry and exit in pips. Total Spread Cost (in dollars) – You write in the total spread cost of the entry and exit in dollars. Commission Cost – Here you write in the total commission cost that you incurred for getting in and out of the trade. If you have a forex broker that is commission free and only gets compensated through the spread, then you do not need this column. Starting Balance – The starting account balance that you had prior to the placing of the trade Interest/swap – If you hold forex currency pairs past the rollover, then you either get interest or need to pay out interest depending on the rollover rates. Or if you bought a stock and got a dividend then write that in. Or if you shorted a stock and you had to pay a dividend, then write that in. Ending Balance – The ending balance of your account after the trade is closed after taking into account trade P&L, commission cost, and interest/swap. Reasons for taking the trade – Here is where you go into much more detail about why you placed the trade. Write out your thinking. Instead of writing a paragraph or two describing my thinking behind the trade, I condense the reasons down into bullet points. It can be anywhere from 1-10 bullet points. What I Learned – No matter if the trade is a win or loss, write down what you believed you learned. Again, instead of writing out a paragraph or two, I condense it down into bullet points. it can be anywhere from 1-10 bullet points. I do this during the day the trade closed as a profit or loss. What I learned after Long Term reflection, several days, weeks, or months – This is the very interesting column. This is important because after you have a winning or losing trade, you will not always know the true reasons why it happened. You have your immediate theories and reasons which you include in the previous column. However, there are times when after several days, weeks, or months, you find the true reason and proper market belief about why your trade succeeded or failed. It can take a few days or weeks or months to reach that “aha” moment. I am not saying that I am thinking about trades I placed ten months ago. I try to forget about them and focus on the present moment. However, there will be trades where you have these nagging questions about they failed or succeeded and you will only discover those reasons several days, weeks, or months later. When you discover the reasons, you write them in this column.

I came across Datadash 50k BTC prediction this week, and I must take my hats off to what I believe is an excellent interpretation of the inter-connectivity of various markets. At your own convenience, you can find a sample of Intermarket analysis I've written in the past before immersing myself into cryptos full-time. Gold inter-market: 'Out of sync' with VIX, takes lead from USD/JPY USD/JPY inter-market: Watch divergence US-Japan yield spread EUUSD intermarket: US yields collapse amid supply environment Inter-market analysis: Risk back in vogue, but for how long? USD/JPY intermarket: Bulls need higher adj in 10-y US-JP spread The purpose of this article is to dive deeper into the factors Datadash presents in his video and how they can help us draw certain conclusions about the potential flows of capital into crypto markets and the need that will exist for a BTC ETF. Before I do so, as a brief explainer, let's touch on what exactly Intermarket analysis refers to: Intermarket analysis is the global interconnectivity between equities, bonds, currencies, commodities, and any other asset class; Global markets are an ever-evolving discounting and constant valuation mechanism and by studying their interconnectivity, we are much better positioned to explain and elaborate on why certain moves occur, future directions and gain insights on potential misalignments that the market may not have picked up on yet or might be ignoring/manipulating. While such interconnectivity has proven to be quite limiting when it comes to the value one can extract from analyzing traditional financial assets and the crypto market, Datadash has eloquently been able to build a hypothesis, which as an Intermarket analyst, I consider very valid, and that matches up my own views. Nicolas Merten constructs a scenario which leads him to believe that a Bitcoin ETF is coming. Let's explore this hypothesis. I will attempt to summarize and provide further clarity on why the current events in traditional asset classes, as described by Datadash, will inevitably result in a Bitcoin ETF. Make no mistake, Datadash's call for Bitcoin at 50k by the end of 2018 will be well justified once a BTC ETF is approved. While the timing is the most challenging part t get right, the end result won't vary. If one wishes to learn more about my personal views on why a BTC ETF is such a big deal, I encourage you to read my article from late March this year. Don't Be Misled by Low Liquidity/Volume - Fundamentals Never Stronger The first point Nicholas Merten makes is that despite depressed volume levels, the fundamentals are very sound. That, I must say, is a point I couldn't agree more. In fact, I recently wrote an article titled TheParadox: Bitcoin Keeps Selling as Intrinsic Value Set to Explode where I state "the latest developments in Bitcoin's technology makes it paradoxically an ever increasingly interesting investment proposition the cheaper it gets." However, no article better defines where we stand in terms of fundamentals than the one I wrote back on May 15th titled Find Out Why Institutions Will Flood the Bitcoin Market, where I look at the ever-growing list of evidence that shows why a new type of investors, the institutional ones, looks set to enter the market in mass. Nicholas believes that based on the supply of Bitcoin, the market capitalization can reach about $800b. He makes a case that with the fundamentals in bitcoin much stronger, it wouldn't be that hard to envision the market cap more than double from its most recent all-time high of more than $300b. Interest Rates Set to Rise Further First of all, one of the most immediate implications of higher rates is the increased difficulty to bear the costs by borrowers, which leads Nicholas to believe that banks the likes of Deutsche Bank will face a tough environment going forward. The CEO of the giant German lender has actually warned that second-quarter results would reflect a “revenue environment [that] remains challenging." Nicholas refers to the historical chart of Eurodollar LIBOR rates as illustrated below to strengthen the case that interest rates are set to follow an upward trajectory in the years to come as Central Banks continue to normalize monetary policies after a decade since the global financial crisis. I'd say, that is a correct assumption, although one must take into account the Italian crisis to be aware that a delay in higher European rates is a real possibility now. !(https://coinlive.io/ckeditor_assets/pictures/947/content_2018-05-30_1100.png) Let's look at the following combinations: Fed Fund Rate Contract (green), German 2-year bond yields (black) and Italy's 10-year bond yield (blue) to help us clarify what's the outlook for interest rates both in Europe and the United States in the foreseeable future. The chart suggests that while the Federal Reserve remains on track to keep increasing interest rates at a gradual pace, there has been a sudden change in the outlook for European rates in the short-end of the curve. While the European Central Bank is no longer endorsing proactive policies as part of its long-standing QE narrative, President Mario Draghi is still not ready to communicate an exit strategy to its unconventional stimulus program due to protectionism threats in the euro-area, with Italy the latest nightmare episode. Until such major step is taken in the form of a formal QE conclusion, interest rates in the European Union will remain depressed; the latest drastic spike in Italy's benchmark bond yield to default levels is pre-emptive of lower rates for longer, an environment that on one hand may benefit the likes of Deutsche Bank on lower borrowing costs, but on the other hand, sets in motion a bigger headache as risk aversion is set to dominate financial markets, which leads to worse financial consequences such as loss of confidence and hence in equity valuations. !(https://coinlive.io/ckeditor_assets/pictures/948/content_2018-05-30_1113.png) Deutsche Bank - End of the Road? Nicholas argues that as part of the re-restructuring process in Deutsche Bank, they will be facing a much more challenging environment as lending becomes more difficult on higher interest rates. At CoinLive, we still believe this to be a logical scenario to expect, even if a delay happens as the ECB tries to deal with the Italian political crisis which once again raises the question of whether or not Italy should be part of the EU. Reference to an article by Zerohedge is given, where it states: "One day after the WSJ reported that the biggest German bank is set to "decimate" its workforce, firing 10,000 workers or one in ten, this morning Deutsche Bank confirmed plans to cut thousands of jobs as part of new CEO Christian Sewing's restructuring and cost-cutting effort. The German bank said its headcount would fall “well below” 90,000, from just over 97,000. But the biggest gut punch to employee morale is that the bank would reduce headcount in its equities sales and trading business by about 25%." There is an undeniably ongoing phenomenon of a migration in job positions from traditional financial markets into blockchain, which as we have reported in the past, it appears to be a logical and rational step to be taken, especially in light of the new revenue streams the blockchain sector has to offer. Proof of that is the fact that Binance, a crypto exchange with around 200 employees and less than 1 year of operations has overcome Deutsche Bank, in total profits. What this communicates is that the opportunities to grow an institution’s revenue stream are formidable once they decide to integrate cryptocurrencies into their business models. One can find an illustration of Deutsche Bank's free-fall in prices below: !(https://coinlive.io/ckeditor_assets/pictures/946/content_2018-05-30_1052.png) Nicholas takes notes of a chart in which one can clearly notice a worrying trend for Italian debt. "Just about every other major investor type has become a net seller (to the ECB) or a non-buyer of BTPs over the last couple of years. Said differently, for well over a year, the only marginal buyer of Italian bonds has been the ECB!", the team of Economists at Citi explained. One can find the article via ZeroHedge here. !(https://coinlive.io/ckeditor_assets/pictures/953/content_2018-05-30_1451.png) Equities & Housing to Suffer the Consequences Nicholas notes that trillions of dollars need to exit these artificially-inflated equity markets. He even mentions a legendary investor such as George Soros, who has recently warned that the world could be on the brink of another devastating financial crisis, on lingering debt concerns in Europe and a strengthening US dollar, as a destabilizing factor for both the US's emerging- and developed-market rivals. Ray Dalio, another legend in the investing world and Founder of Bridgewater Associates, the world’s largest hedge fund, "has ramped up its short positions in European equities in recent weeks, bringing their total value to an estimated $22 billion", MarketWatch reports. Nicholas extracts a chart by John Del Vecchio at lmtr.com where it illustrates the ratio between stocks and commodities at the lowest in over 50 years. As the author states: "I like to look for extremes in the markets. Extremes often pinpoint areas where returns can be higher and risk lower than in other time periods. Take the relationship between commodities and stocks. The chart below shows that commoditieshavennot been cheaper than stocks in a generation. We often hear this time it is different” to justify what’s going on in the world. But, one thing that never changes is human nature. People push markets to extremes. Then they revert. " !(https://coinlive.io/ckeditor_assets/pictures/954/content_2018-05-30_1459.png) Bitcoin ETF the Holy Grail for a Cyclical Multi-Year Bull Run It is precisely from this last chart above that leads Nicholas to believe we are on the verge of a resurgence in commodity prices. Not only that but amid the need of all this capital to exit stocks and to a certain extent risky bonds (Italian), a new commodity-based digital currency ETF based on Bitcoin will emerge in 2018. The author of Datadash highlights the consideration to launching a Bitcoin ETF by the SEC. At CoinLive, our reporting of the subject can be found below: "Back in April, it was reported that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has put back on the table two Bitcoin ETF proposals, according to public documents. The agency is under formal proceedings to approve a rule change that would allow NYSE Arca to list two exchange-traded funds (ETFs) proposed by fund provider ProShares. The introduction of an ETF would make Bitcoin available to a much wider share of market participants, with the ability to directly buy the asset at the click of a button, essentially simplifying the current complexity that involves having to deal with all the cumbersome steps currently in place." Nicholas refers to the support the Bitcoin ETF has been receiving by the Cboe president Chris Concannon, which is a major positive development. CoinLive reported on the story back in late March, noting that "a Bitcoin ETF will without a doubt open the floodgates to an enormous tsunami of fresh capital entering the space, which based on the latest hints by Concannon, the willingness to keep pushing for it remains unabated as the evolution of digital assets keeps its course." It has been for quite some time CoinLive's conviction, now supported by no other than Nicholas Merten from Datadash, that over the next 6 months, markets will start factoring in the event of the year, that is, the approval of a Bitcoin ETF that will serve as a alternative vehicle to accommodate the massive flows of capital leaving some of the traditional asset classes. As Nicholas suggests, the SEC will have little choice but to provide alternative investments. Bitcoin as a Hedge to Lower Portfolios' Volatility Last but not least, crypto assets such as Bitcoin and the likes have an almost non-existent correlation to other traditional assets such as stocks, bonds, and commodities, which makes for a very attractive and broadly-applicable diversification strategy for the professional money as it reduces one’s portfolio volatility. The moment a Bitcoin ETF is confirmed, expect the non-correlation element of Bitcoin as a major driving force to attract further capital. Anyone Can BeWrongDatadash, But You Won't be Wrong Alone Having analyzed the hypothesis by Nicholas Merten, at CoinLive we believe that the conclusion reached, that is, the creation of a Bitcoin ETF that will provide shelter to a tsunami of capital motivated by the diversification and store of value appeal of Bitcoin, is the next logical step. As per the timing of it, we also anticipate, as Nicholas notes, that it will most likely be subject to the price action in traditional assets. Should equities and credit markets hold steady, it may result in a potential delay, whereas disruption in the capital market may see the need for a BTC ETF accelerate. Either scenario, we will conclude with a quote we wrote back in March. "It appears as though an ETF on Bitcoin is moving from a state of "If" to "When." Datadash is certainly not alone on his 50k call. BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes appears to think along the same line. On behalf of the CoinLive Team, we want to thank Nicholas Merten at Datadash for such enlightening insights.
Quick background for those new here. This started with me saying that if a person gets suitable good at entering the market and finding places to get high RR trades, it is entirely possible to flip small amounts of money into larger ones relatively quickly. To demonstrate this, I said Id flip $40-50 into over $1,000 over a year and link up Myfxbook to track all my trades. I’d also run versions of the strategy with the info posted for people to log into the accounts, see the trades and copy them if they want (see ForexCopy). The first one I bust on day one. I tried to do it really quickly ($1,000 in a week or so from $40). I got up around 200% - 250% and then zero’d it. The trades I lost in where not really good opportunities, and I as overly aggressive with them. Was dumb. The second one I tried running via a copy trader, it messed up early trades and vitaly went bust in the opening hours (I do not think it ever went into profit). The “I can flip $40 to $1,000 as long as I can keep reloading $40s” challenge is far less impressive. So, I have been reloading that account with tiny amounts, trying to get from $2 or so up to a more useful equity figure. I have failed doing this various times, but it has been down to accuracy being less sharp that it may have been rather than this not being viable. This is viable. It is fucking hard. Don’t get me wrong. Entering the market when you have 5 - 7 pips before you get margin called is tricky. Kinda fun, too. Good training in getting entries. With a couple good entries, though, entirely viable. $2 can get to $5, $5 can get to $15 and that is enough pips at 0.01 to have a damn good cracking at catching some big moves. Realistically, I think it only takes 10 really good trades to have a fairly useful bankroll. So let’s just write the $40 - $1,000 thing off. I bombed that. I am willing to up the ante. Rather than $40 - $1,000 over 12 months, I think I can do $2 or $3 to $5,000 in 18 months. This is contingent upon a couple things;
I may need to rebuy a few more times (although, maybe not).
I need the markets to trend in the nice structured way that currently are through the next year (or be super volatile and be well positioned for that).
This may sound outlandish and crazy, but the maths behind this are fairly solid. All it takes is catching a few 50 - 100 pip trades. A few of these can take $2 to $30, a few more and it is over $100. I can get 1:10 - 1:15 risk reward trades, and can increase risk:reward with in-trade management and adding positions (or hedging positions in profit). So using 5 - 10% risk in really prime opportunities, and it does not take many of them in a row to make some decent money compounding an account from $100. Technical Details on Margin Requirements You may be wondering how this can even be feasible. It may seem logical that even the best trader in the world could not get started from $2, but actually with the right brokerage conditions and pair selection, this can be done. I am using IC Markets. I have 1:500 leverage. Commission per trade is 0.6 of a lot (so, about $0.04-0.06 per trade with my position sizes). My spreads are usually under a pip. They sometimes go to zero spread. Pair selection. NZD and JPY are the lowest margin requirement currencies, and these can trend well. So I focus on these for starting out. I am trading NZDJPY, I require $1.33 margin to open 0.01 lots. So this means if I close all my trades and have under $1.33 I can not open any more trades. However, my stop out level is 50% of my margin requirements. So I get stopped out when I have $0.65 equity. This gives me about 15 pips from $2. I can also hedge this, and can use ways to manipulate margin requirements to get the most bang for my buck (which can be good or bad, it goes both ways, but it gives me more options). So with these settings, to take $2 to $10 is not all that hard. Catch 50 pips or so a couple times without the first trade drawing down 10+ pips. With $10, I have 100 pips at 0.01 (or the option of far more creative positioning), I think 100 pips is plenty margin for error to get into a few good trades and get going. I’ve pinned the Myfxbook for this to start from today (16th January 2019) since this is the first day I am taking this seriously. https://www.myfxbook.com/members/inweedwetrust/40-1000/2893650 Deposit $1.50 + account balance $0.65 = Slightly over $2 to start. The net deposit on this account is now around $66. Update. I want to quash this idea that the only way someone can make large returns in FX is using reckless risk and gambling. Obviously many people do this ,but some just know ways to get far more reward for their risks. Here is a trade I am. I had about $3.50 equity when opening the first two trades. 5 pips and 2 pips stops. I was risking about $0.50. https://preview.redd.it/ljohtjwqdwa21.png?width=1366&format=png&auto=webp&s=24d62c7296c8afdc15907dbe42a18a37f389e1fd Then as the move has developed, I have adjusted my stops and added to the position. I am targeting 60 pips or so here, about $20 pay off. I have nothing at risk now. I will end the trade really close to breakeven, if not slightly up. I have turned $0.50 risk into potentially $20 profit, and done this in the space of 10 pips. **I am not saying this is easy**. It has taken me years of studying price moves to know how, and far more importantly when to do this. I am saying it something that can be learned, and when applied well ... can be surprisingly profitable. Update. https://preview.redd.it/1jptz02cfwa21.png?width=1366&format=png&auto=webp&s=a8af8bd06a16058ae2369fe634215116d806fc31 Now I have set hedging orders on an area I know price often pulls back from. If it pulls back to the level I expect, I can exit the hedges and have the buy stops under there. If it then goes higher, I banked an extra X% on the gain with the hedges. I have set a hedging order above the high for if price blows through the take profits (making me short) and continues upwards. The worse case scenario sees me lose rather little, the best case (price filling take profits and then coming down to make the sells profitable, or the price retracing so the sells are profitable then it making a high) yield substantial profit potential. Piling up potential profit, without adding on much potential risk. Update. https://preview.redd.it/v70pqc9qiwa21.png?width=1362&format=png&auto=webp&s=a252499e2dc4f5ffc782fb6e44ffc5d8b8fb0fa6 Then I use the rules of the Extreme Edge strategy to trail stops. To get my line in the sand. I now have locked in a profti (albeit small) and can potentially make somewhere in the $25 - $30 range or perhaps more from my $0.50 risk. https://www.reddit.com/Forexnoobs/comments/af15l9/extreme_edge_strategy_detailed/ Update. This never worked out (I screwed it up). It is a lot harder with $2 on a 1 minute chart whilst posting live updates. However later you will see how I can take these same principles that can make $0.50 risk into $20 and use them to get into positions where $10 risk can be $300. Or where $100 can be several thousand. Update. So I was a bit early on that move, but this is what it looks like when it works. Occasions to position like this happen fairly frequently. I can get myself into these positions where I am risking a nominal amount for much larger gains many times in a day. I can take the same principles and apply them to weekly charts and position for "flash crashes", and other volatile moves. This is obviously on an account with more equity, I got margin called on the small one, will try again tomorrow. I was probably 2 pips away from going to $2 to close to $100 today (assuming the trades come through as I think). Will be abl to check what it could have been. If I'd hit the first trade, it would have mirrored the trades in the account that is copying my account *2 risk. If these swings hit, this account may make about $50 in them. Which will put it up about 100% (trading only 2x 0.01 at any time) since we fixed the margin/FIFO copying issues. Bit early to be counting chickens, but we'll see. https://www.myfxbook.com/members/drcherrypoppemt4-9084923/2910254 https://preview.redd.it/xhqv5tf55za21.png?width=1359&format=png&auto=webp&s=e63d97b4d7ef32573071afff3c31f67a98f725e6
I'm also taking a look at crypto markets and see if my algo trading strategies are relevant there. The major flaw in my model is the commission fees and liquidity. That's why I was semi-forced out of stock market and looked into Forex and now crypto. So how tradeable is crypto? for someone trading every 30 minutes frequency, how good is the liquidity, and which offers the lowest commission?
Hi guys, i'll be travelling to Malaysia with some regularity and wanted to know the most favorable forex places in KL. I'd be looking to exchange USD for MYR and have had mixed luck in the past with my experiences. The best I had seen was in Seremban, where i got 4.01 MYR per USD. I haven't seen anywhere in KL with such a favorable rate, but thought to ask if people knew of where i could get a fair exchange. the current market rate is 4.19. Any pointers for where i can exchange in KL with the lowest fees and commissions would be super appreciated. Thanks sayangs!
Tesla earned $ 143 million in net profit in the third quarter of 2019
Tesla ended the third quarter of 2019 with a net profit of $ 143 million or 80 cents per share, according to the company's statements. Most analysts expected the company to end the quarter at a loss, Bloomberg notes. https://preview.redd.it/1cxiial5rhu31.png?width=1050&format=png&auto=webp&s=1024aa9bba9dc0b3748901f22f6c6e98ba9926c2 Revenues in the third quarter amounted to $ 6.3 billion against $ 6.8 billion a year earlier. The company's revenue year on year declined for the first time since 2012, Bloomberg points out. The last time Tesla made a quarterly profit in the fourth quarter of 2018, then it amounted to $ 139 million. For the first three months of 2019, the loss amounted to $ 702 million. In the second quarter, it decreased to $ 408 million. The company linked profit-making with a reduction in operating costs - they are at the lowest level since the start of Model 3 production, Tesla noted. In particular, in 2019, the company conducted staff reductions and tightened cost control. The company reported: • The balance of money and cash equivalents in accounts increased by 80% compared to the third quarter of 2018 and amounted to $ 5.3 billion. The free cash flow is $ 371 million. • The third quarter was a record for the volume of production and supply of cars: Tesla produced 96 thousand and delivered to customers 97 thousand cars. • The new Gigafactory factory in Shanghai is ahead of the launch schedule and has already begun a trial assembly of vehicles. • Work on the Model Y crossover is also faster than the plan. Serial production was planned for autumn 2020 but will start in the summer. • For 2020, a limited edition of Tesla Semi trucks is planned. • The commissioning of Gigafactory in Europe is planned for 2021. The company promised to announce the location later. Investors positively evaluated the quarterly results of the company. In an additional session, after the close of significant trading, Tesla shares rose 20% to $ 306 apiece. Fed sees the prospect of a recession in the U.S. economy
The Federal Reserve System noted an increase in bearish risks in the U.S. economy and an increase in the probability of a recession, according to the minutes of the meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) from September 17-18. https://preview.redd.it/vfhu4y6c4qr31.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=7da3d9bdedef3a384cc99469339f54cb3db1fe80 “The participants in the meeting generally suppose that the bearish risks for the forecast of economic activity increased slightly compared to the July meeting. Especially the risks associated with uncertainty in trade policy and with external conditions,” according to the protocol. Weaknesses in business and manufacturing investment since the beginning of the year may indicate that GDP growth will be weaker than the current forecast suggests. The current prediction provides for the growth of the U.S. economy by just over 2% in 2019 and 2020. And a little less than 2% in 2021 and 2022. As reported, the Fed in September lowered the interest rate on federal credit funds (federal funds rate) by 0,25 percentage points to 1,75-2% per annum. Three members of the Central Bank’s leadership opposed the decision of the majority: two voted to maintain the rate at the same level, another voted to reduce it immediately by 0,5 percentage points. Median predictions of the Fed management, released in September, indicate that most expect the rate to stay at the current level until the end of the year. At the same time, market participants see a high probability of another rate cut in October. In favor of this development of events, speak weak statistical data on business activity, released last week. Last week, it became known that the index of business activity in the U.S. services sector (ISM Non-Manufacturing) in September fell to 52,6 points, the lowest level since August 2016. It was previously reported that a similar index of activity in the manufacturing sector last month dropped to 47,8 points, which is the minimum since June 2009. The next FOMC meeting will be held on October 29-30. However, the market has no doubt that rates will decrease further; an asset purchase program will be launched. Fed Chairman Jerome Powell refuses to call the increase in balance the QE program. However, for market participants and analysts, everything is clear: the Federal Reserve will print money and pour it into the financial system. So far, the stock market is not ready for growth. The weak situation in the economy and the lack of decisive in the trade war do not give rise to optimism. Why Genesis Vision (GVT) Should Be on Your Watch-List
In light of the recent shills regarding GVT, I thought it would be the perfect time to give some of you a quick look on what GVT is and why it has been getting so much attention as of late. As a disclaimer, I am invested in GVT and I would like to also point out that although I am fairly active on the GVT sub reddit, I have not shilled it whatsoever on /r crypto. I mention this because I know there will be those that say "oh great, another shill post/comment" and had I been trying to shill, I would be all over this sub spamming people about it. I will try to make this post as unbiased as possible. In return, I simply ask that any FUD, and shills as well, include some substance so that we may have a nice discussion.
What is Genesis Vision?
Genesis Vision, from the site, is "the first platform for the private trust management market, built on Blockchain technology and Smart Contracts". Simply put, they are creating an easy-to-use app where people who do not know how to invest their money can give it to someone who does on a trustless platform. Think of it like a trust-less brokerage firm that is backed by blockchain technology and smart contracts. From the white-paper, there are 3 types of people on the platform:
Managers: Management funds/traders are companies/individuals with a proven trading history, ready to acquire investors' money for management. The profit, received as a result of management of the total funds, is shared proportionally between the managers and investors. Managers receive a commission for management and a commission from the profit (success fee).
Investors: Investors do not trade in the market directly. Instead, investors transfer their funds to experienced traders who manage the funds for them. Investors get their shares from their managers’ profits.
Brokers: Brokers are companies that have the appropriate licenses to carry out brokerage activities. Through brokers, traders have access to trading financial instruments on exchange and over-the-counter markets.
The final GVT platform will have the forex, stock and crypto market all integrated onto one app. GVT's alpha release on April 1st will only include the forex market. Q4 of this year will then integrate crypto for their beta release. Finally, on their final product release, stocks will be added.
How is the platform trust-less?
First ask yourself this, why can people trust traditional brokers with their money? They can't. Who's not to say any given broker won't run away or make awful investments and lose your money? The only thing people like you and me can go off of when investing with any given broker is their track record - and that’s something that could be tampered with too. How long has this person/brokerage firm been in the market? How reliable are they? Stuff like this isn't going to be an issue on Genesis Vision. The time a person has been investing on the platform is all public on the blockchain. Every good investment and every bad investment will be publicly listed. Smart contracts will ensure that no manager can close shop and run with your money. At the end of the trading period, funds are released to the original investor and the manager is given a cut - all safely and securely using smart contracts. This completely eliminates the trust factor as everyone will simply base investments on a manager’s track record.
How does it work?
On the platform, each manager will have their own token. You invest into said manager by buying their token. The manager can then utilize the various markets available to invest and hopefully grow your money. Managers will have levels that are based on their ability to make consistent and reliable gains. The lowest level a manager can be is level 1 while the highest is 7. Your level basically determines how much money you can handle - the max level being able to handle roughly $1m. New people can apply to become a manager after they have developed a track record by trading a minimum of $1,000 over a given period of time.
How GVT is creating its own ecosystem.
To make it easier to understand how the platform will work, ask yourself how the current crypto market works. No matter how many trades you do or what coins you hold, the end goal is to have your portfolio be worth more satoshis/gwei than what you started with. You can either hold BTC, OR you can invest in various altcoins in hopes that it will grow faster than BTC. The reason people research low cap “undiscovered” cryptos is to hopefully catch a rocketship before it takes off. Times have since changed, but everything used to have to go through BTC. Buying alts? Exchange from BTC. Selling alts? Exchange to BTC. BTC falls, everyone falls. BTC grows, everyone grows (sometimes). Some alts will fall harder than BTC, and some won't. Some alts will grow faster than BTC and some won't. Because of BTC's dominance over the market, it is why many crypto veterans hold a big portion of their portfolio in BTC and why they often recommend it to others. This is akin to how the GVT platform will work. GVT is BTC and the managers on the platform are the altcoins. You could either hold GVT or put it into a manager that will hopefully get you better returns. Much like how people right now look for “undervalued” and “undiscovered” altcoins, there will be talks and similar conversation about undiscovered managers with potential. Now remember, this is how it’s going to be for the intermediate to advanced people, but for newer or more busy people, GVT can become a fantastic tool for side-income. The platform’s main goal is mass adoption. People like me and you would be more inclined to simply hold GVT since we’d be able to spot out good short, mid and long holds ourselves. Also, since as the platform grows, the coin itself will naturally grow with it. However, what GVT is aiming to do is build a platform similar to Robinhood. Just like how they made investing in stocks - and now cryptos - more appealing and easier to all audiences (especially younger ones), GVT is trying to do this but with a broker-like app instead. Also, keep in mind I’m just talking about crypto. The platform is going to utilize the forex market and the stock market as well. The takeaway of all this is that because GVT will have its own platform where you can buy/sell GVT straight off of, down the line GVT could possibly part ways with Bitcoin and in a sense create its own ecosystem where GVT is the driving force of its own market.
Why invest with a manager?
So now, I’m again talking exclusively crypto (since I’m not the most knowledgeable on the forex/stock market), but why would any of us want to invest with a manager? Technical analysis and day-trading is an incredibly taboo subject on this subreddit, but that’s because people don’t understand that TA is a tool. It’s not a fact that it’s going to pan out exactly as it’s written and there are many different things to look at when doing technical analysis on a chart. Any investment in this market is speculation and TA is very useful with helping you make educated guesses for the short, mid and long term. With that said, there are some really good day-traders out there. I’m not sure how this subreddits sentiment is towards Philakone (an exclusive day trader on twitteyoutube/steemit), but the dude makes a good amount of consistent money on a daily basis, whether it be a bull or bear market, and keeps his followers up to date by the minute - for free. Imagine if he were to get on the GVT platform and instead of people trying to copy/paste or follow what he does on Twitter, they can just give him money on the GV platform and have him do the work? Down the line if he becomes a level 7 manager and as a result is given a cut of the $1m he is allowed to work with, the literal TON of money he’d be making would certainly appeal to others looking to do the same. They would no doubt have their eyes on GVT and from there, the platform’s growth would be exponential once more and more managebrokers hop on. I’m not saying that this is exactly how everything will turn out, but still imagine being able to make money in a bear market? And aside from that, there is the forex and stock market to utilize and if any of us ever become serious investors, it would important not to just diversify in crypto, but in different markets altogether and being familiar with GVT would greatly help. Again, this is purely talk on the potential of the platform so take it with a grain of salt and DYOR!
Some thoughts + moonboy talk
Okay this is going to be pure moon-talk since I know that’s what drives most of you. To start, the team is most familiar with the forex market - which has a LOT of money in it - and that is what they will be implementing first on their Alpha launch on April 1st. Crypto implementation in Q4 2018 on beta release and then stock implementation in Q1 2019 on the full release. Remember that REAL adoption comes when people are using applications built on the blockchain without knowing - something GVT will be doing. Look at Steemit. It is the most active blockchain by far - beating out Ethereum AND Bitcoin ( http://blocktivity.info ). Why? Because it’s smooth and functions like a normal website, despite its use of blockchain technology. I’m not saying GVT will automatically shoot up to the top, but actual use is what will determine any crypto’s success and Genesis Vision is looking like a really solid candidate right now. On top of this, GVT’s CBDO (Chief Business Development Officer) was the founder of tools4brokers ( http://www.t4b.com ) so they have someone on the team with experience with a successful and working product. I’m not going to take a deep-dive on the rest of the team, but I highly suggest checking out the roadmap and the team (all but a few have linkdin profiles). Now for the money. First, do NOT be fooled about GVT’s USD price. The price is so high because its token supply is very limited. It is roughly 1/6th the supply of Bitcoin’s meaning we would just have to get to 1/6th of Bitcoin’s market cap (around $25b) in order for 1 GVT to equal 1 BTC. It’s a stretch, sure, but it’s more possible than you think. To put it plain and simple, the forex, stock and crypto market altogether amount to upwards of almost $100 trillion. GVT is a $100m market cap crypto trying to disrupt a $100 trillion~ industry with an easy-to-use, innovative and game-changing app
.001% of this market = $1 billion market cap (1,000% gains from now)
.01% of this market = $10 billion market cap (10,000% gains from now)
.1% of this market = $100 billion market cap (100,000% gains from now)
Huge disclaimer that just because we could reach these numbers, does not necessarily mean we will, but I see no reason why can’t hit a billion or even 10 down the line.
That’s pretty much it from me. Genesis Vision is a project I, and many others, are extremely excited about. It has a lot going for itself and with such a low market cap, it’s definitely something to at least throw on your watch- list. Hopefully this post didn’t come off as too much of a shill (aside from the last portion) and instead opened some people up to why GVT isn’t just “another shitcoin”. If I missed anything, don't be afraid to chip in! And I’d also be more than happy to try and answer any questions some of you may have but I simply ask that you take a look at the white-paper ( https://genesis.vision/white-paper-eng.pdf ) first as it is very user-friendly and would answer some of your questions better than I could.
